Why you should incorporate Sauna into your routine

By now you have probably heard about the benefits of adding sauna to your life.

Sauna has become something more than a great way to relax.

Many wellness influencers and experts outline the same benefits:

  • Improves metabolic health to lower glucose levels

  • Boosts mood by triggering endorphins and lowering cortisol

  • Activates heat shock proteins to boost cellular repair

Sauna has been part of everyday life in Scandinavian countries for a long time.

Population wide studies have shown regular sauna sessions can reduce the risk of dying by up to 40% (Laukkanen et al., 2015)

It is important to note that sauna in Europe is actually a mix of sauna and cold exposure. Typically 20 minutes in the sauna then jumping into the snow or a lake.

So how does it work?

Our bodies are very good at maintaining a stable core body temperature (usually in a range of 36 C to 37 C).

Any deviations outside of this range forces our bodies to work to restore this tight range.

The temporary heat stress from sauna is giving our metabolism a work out.

Did you know that 57 minutes of sauna per week is all that is needed to lift and maintain your metabolic health.
